Training runs every Tuesday at 6pm, October – March. Under–7s train for about half an hour, over–7s for about an hour and a half.

Registration covers three memberships: Athletics New Zealand, Athletics Auckland, and Roskill South, all three are required, not optional add-ons. It’s what gets your junior athlete covered and eligible to compete.

Our uniform is a red tee and black shorts or pants, available through Lenco.

Age groups are based on how old your child is on 31 December of the year the season starts, not their birthday during the season. For example, a child who’s 7 or turns 7 between 1 October and 31 December is in the 7-year-old age group for the whole season. Once your child starts in an age group, they stay there, even with a birthday between January and March.

Keep an eye on our Facebook page. We post a cancellation update by 4pm if training’s off for the night.

Plenty, and they’re not all serious. The GO! Series is weekly developmental twilight meets for grades 7 to 14 to practise sprints, jumps and throws. Junior Festival and Ribbon Days are low-pressure introductory meets for younger athletes to chase ribbons and personal bests. And for those wanting more, there’s the Junior Pentathlon Championships, the Auckland Junior Athletics Championships at venues like Mt Smart Stadium, and the Colgate Games.

For under–7s, yes, we ask parents to stay and help our coaching volunteers run activities. For over–7s, it’s more flexible, though we always love an extra pair of hands.

Always. Whether it’s timing, BBQ, committee, or just an extra pair of hands on a Tuesday night, Roskill South runs on parents pitching in. Flick us a message if you can spare some time this season.
